What does Board Certified mean and why is it important to me?

* To receive the designation of “Board Certified” an attorney must meet a rigid set of criteria.
* One must have been licensed for at least five years with three of those years in the specialty in which certification is sought.
* 25 – 50% of the attorney’s practice must be within the specialty.
* The attorney must have handled a wide variety of cases in the field to demonstrate substantial involvement.
* Continuing education in legal seminars is also required.
The two final criteria are:
* The approval of judges and colleagues in the field that the attorney is worthy of certification and
* Passage of a written exam administered by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Carl David Adams has been rated  AV Preeminent  for over 35 years

Carl Adams is rated “AV Preeminent” by the Peer Review rating system of Martindale-Hubbell, which evaluates lawyers and law firms in the United States, based on confidential questionnaires sent to lawyers and judges in the same geographic area and/or area of practice as the member being rated.

An “AV Preeminent” rating, according to Martindale-Hubbell, “shows that a lawyer has reached the height of professional excellence. He or she has usually practiced law for many years, and is recognized for the highest levels of skill and integrity.”

According to Martindale-Hubbell, “fewer than 5%” of all lawyers and/or law firms achieve the “AV Preeminent” rating.  Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review ratings, issued on a numerical scale between 1.0 & 5.0, determine whether an attorney is qualified for the Martindale-Hubbell numerical rating of “Rated” (1.0-2.9), “Distinguished” (3.0-4.4), or “Preeminent” (4.5-5.0).

The Peer Review numerical rating of Carl Adams on the numerical scale of Martindale-Hubbell is a 5.0 out of a possible 5.0.
